GTA 6 preload moved to November 10: start times, 212 GB size and Leonida map

Rockstar moved GTA 6 digital preloading to November 10 and says it needs up to 212 GB. Here are the PS5 and Xbox start times, plus details on the free Leonida map.

Rockstar has moved Grand Theft Auto VI’s digital preload forward to November 10, two days earlier than previously announced. It also confirmed that the download needs up to 212 GB of available space, depending on your device.

When does GTA 6 preloading begin?

The start time depends on your console:

PlayStation 5: Tuesday, November 10 at midnight in your local time zone.
Xbox Series X|S: Tuesday, November 10 at 12:00 a.m. GMT worldwide. That is 7:00 p.m. Eastern or 4:00 p.m. Pacific on Monday, November 9.

These times apply to digital preloading. Rockstar says boxed versions containing a download code should become available from retailers beginning November 12.

How much storage do you need?

Rockstar says the preload requires up to 212 GB, depending on your device. Check your console’s free space now so the download is ready to start when your window opens.

To allow an automatic download, PS5 owners need auto-downloads enabled and the console on or in Rest Mode. Xbox owners need automatic updates enabled and the console on or in Sleep mode.

Preloading lets you download the files early. GTA VI’s announced launch date remains November 19, 2026.

A free Leonida map is coming at launch

Rockstar also says a printable map of Leonida and cover art poster will be available as a free digital download from the official GTA VI site on November 19.

A double-sided physical version is planned for the Rockstar Store shortly after launch. Rockstar lists it at $0.99 on its own, or as a free gift with a Rockstar Store purchase.

What to do before November 10

Check that your digital preorder is on the account you intend to use.
Clear up to 212 GB of available storage.
Enable automatic downloads or updates and choose the appropriate console power mode.
If you ordered a boxed code, check your retailer’s pickup or delivery date.
